Everyday when Emery was in the NICU we drove 44 miles to see her, and 44 miles back home. We sometimes made this trip 2-3 times a day.. Today i drove those same 44 miles to take Emery to her pediatric optamology appointment.. It went great she does NOT need glasses.
Man i love good news.
Emery's nurse Jeff met us for the appointment since J couldn't come to help me out since her eyes needed to be dialated. It was so awesome having him there and it just reminds me how many people love Emery and care about her.. After her appointment i wanted to go to the NICU.. So Jeff walked me down there.. As i walked those same corridors i couldnt help but get anxious, my heart started beating fast, my blood pressuer sky rocketed , i felt sick to my stomach.. I remember walking down that corridor everyday for nearly 2 months wondering when i would walk down that corridor with my daughter in my arms.. Now i was strolling down the corridor with my huge 10 month old and a smile on my face, but it still made me sick.. No one was working that took care of Emery but i ran into our social worker who was in charge of are case ( they help military with leave and insurance stuff) She was SHOCKED at how big Emmie was and just gushed about how cute and happy Emmie is.. I cant explain how happy it makes me when people say she is huge!
There was one MAJOR thing that made the trip a little depressing.. The NICU had to move down a hall to expand.. EXPAND.. Which means they have more and more preemies.. It is up to us to fight to end prematurity.. Visit the March Of Dimes website, and find out what you can do to help. 1 in 8 babies are born premature.. be there voice.
